The closest town is Lysebotn, just 15 minutes away by car. Hiking to Kjeragbolten was one of the absolute highlights of our Norway trip. The five-cubic-meter rock was deposited during the last glacial period, estimated at 50.000 BC. There is no real shop here and, only at some places, one can buy simple snacks. When we went in June it was the first week of the season that it was ok to hike without a guide and it was still snow covered.
